The Nordic countries offered energy solutions to assist Ethiopia in harnessing renewable energy resources.Ethiopia has already began benefiting from Nordic countries experiences on clean energy development.
ACWA Power has been awarded two 125 megawatts (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) projects by the Public Private Partnership Directorate General (PPP-DG) of the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance. The two projects, tendered in April 2019, are expected to power 750,000 homes and offset 320,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The World Bank’s board of executive directors have approved $200 million Renewable Energy Guarantees Programme (REGREP). The programme will support the government of Ethiopia’s ongoing power sector reforms and leverage private sector financing for renewable energy generation.
